Upcoming Adventures

For the past 18 years, I have made a list of goals I would like to achieve during the new year that has just begun. For me, it was not so much about making New Year’s resolutions but rather about challenging myself in some new way. New Year’s resolutions always felt like I was punishing myself for doing a lousy job the previous year. I don’t react well to punishment, even if it comes from me! So instead, I make a list of goals that I would like to accomplish. Some are for fun, many are painful and few are just downright ridiculous. Your perception about which goal falls into which category depends on what life experience you bring to the party.

Year Round Goals:

- Be a more available dad for my kids.

- Improve my skills at ping pong.

- File my tax return on time for a change.

- Be a better singer on Guitar Hero Rock Band so my kids won’t laugh at me.

- Visit at least 5 countries that I haven’t been to before.

- Make a living.

- Help my mother live with Alzheimer’s disease.

- Be a more available dad for my kids.

- Tell the truth.

- Motivate others with actions, not words.

- Write a book.

- Eliminate wrinkles with only the power of suggestion.

- Eat more chocolate.

- Let passion run my life even if it seems counterproductive.

- Tell better jokes.

Completed Adventures

We all know that Charlie loves to run but did you know that is also an avid cyclist, mountaineer, snow skier, adventure racer and white water paddler. Oh and did we mention table tennis, bowling, juggling and extremely bad jokes? That about sums it up. But here are some of the more notable accomplishments from Charlie’s years as an adventurer.

In addition to the events listed below, Charlie has completed dozens of ultra marathons, marathons, cycling events and triathlons.
